BAND DIRECTORS
William R. Goetz earned his Bachelor (2000) and Master of Music Education (2003) degrees from the University of Illinois. Mr. Goetz teaches band at Troy School District 30-C in Joliet-Shorewood, IL. He teaches beginning brass and percussion, assists with the 6th Grade Intermediate Band, and directs the Troy Middle School Symphonic Band, Cadet Band and Marching Band.
Before coming to Troy in 2006, Mr. Goetz taught in Joliet District 86 where he oversaw bands at Washington Jr. High School and its feeder elementary schools from 2000 to 2006. The Washington Band excelled at IGSMA District Contest and earned Honor Status at State Festival in 2004, 2005, and 2006. While at Joliet, he also co-directed the Joliet All-City Band which performed at the 2005 IMEA All-State Conference.
Mr. Goetz is a recipient of the Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award, and the IGSMA Barbara Buehlman Young Conductor Award. He presented the clinic session “Teach, Reteach, and Reinforce: Philosophy & Strategies for Teaching Successful First & Second-Year Bands” at the 2011 Illinois Music Education Conference.

Ms. Carlton's strong background in music began in New Lenox when she decided to play the clarinet in the school band. She was later awarded two scholarships from the school of music at the University of Illinois, where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Music Education. She is currently working on her masters degree in music education at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
From 2002-2004 Ms. Carlton acted as Assistant Band Director in a program that provided instruction to students in Catholic Middle Schools located on the south side of Chicago. From 2005-2007, Ms. Carlton joined the Troy School District and taught general music at Troy Heritage Trail. There she organized and directed multiple all-school programs and also acted as Choir Director for the school. In 2007, Ms. Carlton moved over to W.B. Orenic Intermediate School and Troy Middle School to teach band. During her time here she has taught various ensembles including Beginning Woodwinds, the 6th Grade Intermediate Band, the 6th Grade Cadet Band, the TMS Concert Band and the TMS Cadet Band. She has also introduced and organized several optional small group ensembles here at Troy, including the Winter Carol Band, Flute Choir, Clarinet Choir, Saxophone Choir and Double Reed Ensemble.
In the Fall of 2012, Ms. Carlton was awarded the Barbara Buehlman Young Conductor's Award, an honor which is given by IGSMA.
